MCPc's Brian Kinne: A VAR's-Eye View Of Videoconferencing

What Would Be An Emerging Or Future Use Case For Video?

I can’t point to a customer who is doing this yet, but I can tell you we are having conversations about this application. I’ll give you one maybe you haven’t thought about it, and it’s kind of a sad situation but I think there’s value.

It’s actually has nothing to do with video, but with digital signage. In hospitals, there are moments when somebody in a particular wing or a bed goes into different stages of code that are identified with colors: code blue, code red, [etc.]

So we are having conversations with nursing homes and long-term care facilities, where they don’t have digital signage today and they want to put it up for marketing and messaging. So in the course of conversations I’ve asked, ‘What happens today when you have a code situation in the [Critical Care Unit]. And they say, "We get on the PA and announce it.’"

But what if they had a button where if something turns Code Blue, somebody just hits a button one time, maybe on an app on their phone, and it turns every screen in every room blue. … How many lives could that save?
