8 Key Takeaways From BoB Conference Survey

6. Split On Potential Of Software-Defined Environments

There was a split among solution provider executives attending the Best of Breed conference over whether there’s money to be made in software-defined environments, which include software-defined networks, data centers and storage. Forty-four percent see a good business opportunity in the technology, while 35 percent are not so convinced. (Attendees were asked to rate the potential of SDEs on a scale of 1 – no new business – to 7 – excellent new business opportunity.) Twenty-one percent answered with a “4,” the number in the middle.

About five of every eight solution providers – 62 percent – offer at least one of three SDEs: software-defined networks, software-defined data centers and software-defined storage. And most plan to employ them over the next year.
