Many solution providers know they want more millennials in their company but aren't sure how to best connect with them, said Douglas Sauer, president of Enterprise Technology Group in Indianapolis.

Sauer said he's found millennials typically care less about pay and are more interested in mentorship and employers that have advancement opportunities.

On the negative side, Sauer said many millennials prefer to collaborate and achieve consensus before acting. Therefore, Sauer said it's important to set the expectation that young hires be independent and comfortable leading the sales process.
