Q&A: Why Cloud Trumps Connectivity For Master Agent's Partners

Do you believe that consolidation in the telecom industry will help boost cloud sales because it's giving the more traditional cable companies a cloud play?

Clearly, the game has changed with consolidation. If I’m a large, national carrier that has exclusively made their income based on connectivity, I'd be aggressively looking for some sort of strategic play or addition to my portfolio to sell something more cloud-based or IT-driven, whether it be security, etc. The carriers have to come up with offerings, whether through alliances or organically grown, to remain relevant. Cloud is changing the game, and the play now is about getting the entire customer spend instead of the traditional carriers peacefully coexisting with the IT companies.

Connectivity is still an important spoke in the wheel, but it’s just a spoke, and I think the people that will do the best going forward from a provider -- as well as from a partner -- standpoint, are the people figuring out how to deliver a full solution that will completely service their customer's business challenges end to end.
