Channel Opportunity: Schools' Shift To Personalized Learning
Submitted by Rick Saia on
Q: Is there anything holding back school districts from forging ahead with IT investments for personalized learning?
PETROVSKY (pictured): There's always money holding them back. Schools have a lot of good ideas, and that was the challenge with [President Obama's] ConnectED program, which [stresses] personalized learning, and he wanted to see it in every school. The challenge is how [to] pay for it. [There are] federal programs like E-Rate … That really hasn’t materialized very well. Last year was the first year [in which money was allocated, but] it was smaller than what schools thought they were going to get.
