ARM Expands IoT Security As SoftBank Swoops In

Also in July, Japanese telecommunications giant SoftBank announced its intention to acquire chip designer ARM Holdings for a whopping $32 billion to boost its IoT portfolio.

ARM announced Aug. 2 that it will nearly double its IoT engineering team to create advanced System-on-Chip IP for IoT. “Their work in areas such as IoT security is helping to form a solid foundation for a smarter and better connected world where data – as our most important new natural resource – is secured by design,” Mike Muller, chief technology officer at ARM, said in a statement.
