IT Salaries Up, Skills Gap Persists, Survey Finds

The Payoffs From Certifications

Most IT decision-makers indicated that what they pay to obtain certifications is recouped through increased productivity, faster troubleshooting, and fewer skills gaps, the survey found. Also, certified IT professionals worldwide earned significantly more than their non-certified peers. In North America, for instance, certified IT decision makers earn an average of 8.9 percent more than their non-certified peers.

And those who already hold certifications are more likely to pursue more: The survey said 70 percent of certified professionals are engaged in certification-focused training or plan to do so in the coming year.
