IT Departments Still Tasked With Managing Technology

Even though LOB managers exert more control over IT spending, they still look to the IT department to manage and maintain the technology they purchase.

Two-thirds of CIOs indicate that the IT department is responsible for managing the service and providing technological support. Just under a quarter use a third-party for IT support, while only 11 percent of those services are supported or managed by the LOB department themselves.

Logicalis cautions that without a central strategic plan, the range of products and services that the IT department needs to support will continue growing, posing significant resource challenges.
