CIOs Turning to Service Delivery As Purchasing Power Dwindles

Less Money, New Problems For CIOs

IT Departments are trying to reposition themselves as internal service providers in response to losing control over technology spending.

That's according to a survey of 177 CIOs and IT directors from mid-market organizations in 24 countries spanning Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

CIOs indicated in the research conducted by Logicalis, No. 26 on the CRN Solution Provider 500, that IT spending has shifted decisively toward line-of-business executives and shows no sign of slowing down. In response, CIOs are seeking to embrace a new role focused on infrastructure and service management.

CIOs are also looking to become more focused on strategic activities and recruit specialists with business IT skills.
