2. MSPs Need A Layered Approach To Security

MSPs should adopt a layered approach to security that encompasses everything from antivirus and malware products to filtering at the firewall level, according to Hinrichsen.

"If you're not doing more than one thing for security, you're not doing enough," Hinrichsen said.

Lehr said MSPs should provide clients with a security umbrella with a spectrum of services addressing everything from penetration testing and social engineering to physical security and endpoint management.

"It's a shotgun, not a slingshot," Lehr said. "It's a bunch of things that, as a whole, give you better security posture."
