Can MSPs Fill A Coming Gap Left By Middleware?

Why Go Managed Services?

Nearly half of the organizations represented in the survey – 46 percent – alluded to staff constraints, saying that picking a managed services provider would free up their own developers to boost productivity and take on higher-level programming.

Earlier this year, a Gartner analyst, Mike Dorosh, acknowledged the potential for managed service providers to help midmarket companies that are looking to invest in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) tools, in part because of the lack of skills on staff. "The smaller you are as a company, the smaller your IT staff is, the harder it is to send people off to be trained," he told ITBestOfBreed after he addressed midmarket IT executives at Midsize Enterprise Summit East, hosted by ITBestOfBreed parent The Channel Company. "That's always been the case."

The second biggest reason? Thirty-seven percent said moving IT capital expenses to an operating expense model.
