The twin burdens of integrating greater numbers of business applications and meeting stringent data compliance requirements, coupled with the scarcity of developer resources, are pushing many enterprises to consider a managed services approach, Liaison and Aberdeen believe.

"Factors such as increased demand for big data analytics and integration with Internet of Things devices indicate that organizations should be considering cloud-based managed services to help with integration needs," the report states.

Managed service providers can also offer such services as data warehousing and analytics software and services, along with expertise in meeting regulatory requirements, a discipline for which the corporate IT organization may find difficult to hire staff, the report noted.
