Key Driver: Higher Demand For Integration Between Applications

The primary driver to shift integration middleware platforms to newer cloud-based solutions, is increasing demand for integration between business applications, which was cited by 44 percent of survey respondents. Many of those middleware platforms were introduced over 20 years ago.

Playing into that is the fact that 34 percent of the organizations surveyed have at least 200 applications, Aberdeen found in its survey.

The survey showed that IT organizations feel pressure to keep integration costs down while finding developers with sufficient skills and expertise to handle the growing number of integrations between increasingly disparate applications and data sources.
