Q&A With Marco's Jeff Gau: How Millennials And Boomers Bring In Sales

Is it their facility with technology that enables them to understand customers better when you're talking about businesses' need of technology?

As long as they're talking to the right customer. Here’s what happens: I think the problem is bigger on the buy side. If you’ve got an IT department that's old school and is run by maybe a Gen Xer or a baby boomer that hasn't kept up to speed, it will be difficult for that millennial to make inroads there. I think it depends on who they're calling on too.

Our biggest competitor in the managed services space or the cloud space … is the internal IT department. And I think they're also the biggest barrier sometimes for the millennial to work effectively because they're like "Look, I've been doing this for 40 years, I don’t need some young punk to tell me how to do it."
