Gault said that once women have an idea for a business, they need five main things to help their business take off: craziness, passion, a network, discipline and believers.

The biggest of those five keys are passion and believers, said Gault. In her own experience starting True Gault, her passion stemmed from her own background in technology, as she had previously launched a VoIP company and had interest in telecom.

Another important way to help the business take is networking, she said.

"When I was starting True Gault, I used LinkedIn and Facebook, and I had the courage to ask people about the company's scanning technology. People asked me questions and made me think further about the idea," said Gault.
