6 Next Generation Firewalls

The enterprise market for next generation firewalls is led by Check Point Software Technologies, Cisco Systems, Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks, but midmarket companies are also deploying NGFW appliances from Dell Sonicwall, Intel Security, and WatchGuard. Analysts from NSS Labs told CRN that despite the advanced capabilities marketed by the network security vendors, many deployments are either not properly configured or don’t have many of the capabilities enabled due to fear of performance issues. All the major analyst firms predict continued double digit gains as organizations replace legacy firewalls in favor of the more modern gear. Those surveyed by the Ponemon Institute said they are carefully assessing current configurations and considering additional deployments at remote locations such as remote offices or call centers.
