Maintenance Or Innovation?

The largest portion of this year’s IT budgets – 37 percent - will go toward maintenance of existing equipment and infrastructure followed by the adoption and development of new technologies and innovation, at 33 percent.

Since this is the first time Insight has conducted this survey, there are no prior-year numbers to compare year-to-year changes. But Guggemos said smaller companies in the survey will spend nearly all of their budgets to adopt and develop new technologies, as well as innovation, because “their processes are less than defined and shift regularly.

“Every dollar these smaller companies spend is considered to be in support of (a cloud service) and always support innovation of something new,” he added.

So, channel partners with small-business customers focused on the cloud and newer technologies could see additional sales opportunities this year.
