Partner’s Study: Disruption, Infrastructures Top Corporate IT Concerns

The more technology changes, the more angst it sends through the ranks of corporate technology leaders, based on the results of a new survey on IT spending by solution provider giant Insight Enterprises.

Insight – No. 13 on CRN’s 2015 Solution Provider 500 list – found that nearly two of every three IT leaders are worried that technology disruption — the ever-increasing pace of IT innovation — is putting their IT systems behind the technology curve. That’s more pronounced in large and mid-sized companies. Insight also found that 58 percent of IT leaders surveyed say disruption will come from direct competitors, while 47 percent are concerned about rivals from outside their industries.

That disruption worry will lead them to upgrade their infrastructures, allowing their companies to become more agile and better positioned competitively, according to Steve Dodenhoff, president of Insight Enterprises, based in Tempe, Ariz.

At the same time, these same people believe their IT infrastructures need to be upgraded, with most citing their networks – which would include migrations to the cloud – as their most pressing need for improvement.

The following are some details from the survey.
