Security As An Executive-Level Priority
Nearly 61 percent of companies surveyed have a chief information security officer, most of whom report to either the CIO or CEO, the study found. “CISOs play an important role in security – having one makes a company more likely to take steps to prepare for a cyberattack,” CSA wrote. The CISO’s role often includes establishing security policies, overseeing regulatory compliance, and taking responsibility for data privacy, CSA added.
Larger companies (those with more than 5,000 employees) are more likely to have a CISO, but a slight majority – about 51 percent - of those with less than 5,000 have one.
