Where Is Cloud Going? 8 Insights From Interop ITX Study

Costs Still Matter

Out of 172 respondents whose organizations receive cloud-based services or applications, 18 percent said cost is the primary consideration in any decision to pursue a cloud project, while 30 percent said cost is most important among several considerations.

The main cost factor? Operational expenses, which was cited by 51 percent of the respondents. Right behind it was initial capital expenses, checked off by 42 percent.

Despite the cost issues, Interop said security was the primary concern among respondents, not among public cloud providers but more with technology- and application-specific security.
