Jeff Lutes, vice president of technology for the Orlando Magic, said his biggest partner pet peeve is when it lives and breathes by the contract, instead of by the relationship. For example, Lutes said he worked with a partner under a six-figure contract, but the partner would not jump in to help when there was an outage because it wasn’t explicitly outlined in the contract. Meanwhile, another vendor onsite pitched in to help. Needless to say, Lutes said, the NBA basketball franchise no longer works with the first solution provider and maintains an ongoing relationship with the second.
