Verizon: Money Still Talks On Data Breaches

In its annual Data Breach Investigations Report, Verizon said 73 percent of all data breaches in 2016 were financially motivated, while 21 percent were related to espionage.

Industries that saw the highest percentage of financial motive? Hospitality (99 percent of all breaches); Financial Services (96 percent); Retail (96 percent); Manufacturing (94 percent); and Information, such as software and telecommunications (75 percent).
