Containerization Will Hit A Trough Of Disillusionment

While we are expecting containerization to greatly disrupt the PaaS landscape, several vendors that have jumped on the marketing bandwagon will fall short in their ability to deliver meaningful solutions to the market. 2014 saw lots of strange bedfellows publicly embrace or support containerization and the Docker movement. As everyone has time to step back and understand the real level of commitment and investment around integrating containerization into the core kernel, it will become clear that many providers are just piling on the bandwagon of support that Docker has enjoyed in the media. As organizations start to deploy real workloads, the rubber will hit the road and we’ll realize which vendors were selling the cloud equivalents of vaporware.
