"CIOs are really taking control over the IT spend, so the shadow IT concept becomes less relevant," Briggs said. "The CIO is going to rise to be a strategist and a catalyst for the forces impacting more than just one off departmental investments. CIOs are now reshaping customer interactions or employee engagement and how companies are getting business done."
