Cloud Helps Puff Up Solution Providers’ Financials, IDC Says

First Movers Hold The Advantages

Solution providers that earn at least half of their revenue from cloud offerings demonstrate better business performance than those that take in less than half, IDC found. But IDC cautioned that the results do not necessarily mean that the cloud is responsible for the better results by those with stronger performance.

“Partners led by a strong management team tend to see critical trends in the industry first,” IDC said. “They made the commitment to cloud early, and they are benefiting from the early adoption.”

The survey found that 20 percent of solution providers derive at least half their revenue from cloud, with another 35 percent seeing 20 to 50 percent of revenue coming from cloud.
