No Longer Playing Catch-Up?

Is there gold for channel partners in mid-market companies?

Two recent surveys point to a rise in the adoption of emerging technologies in the mid-market, while earlier this year, research firm Gartner projected that growth in IT spending by small and mid-size businesses at the global level is expected to outpace the overall market by more than 0.5 percent between 2016 and 2019.

A Deloitte survey released last week said mid-market companies "are no longer playing catch-up" with larger businesses. Deloitte pointed specifically to two survey findings: a 90-percent adoption rate of some form of virtual or augmented reality, and 42 percent of mid-market firms using demos or interactive tools to help improve employee and customer interactions.

Meanwhile, a survey by the B2B research firm Clutch indicated a rise in cloud adoption among small and medium-sized businesses. More than 90 percent of companies it surveyed said they either employ cloud hosting or plan to do so.
