The Post-Recession Climate
Beeline, a Jacksonville-Fla. software company that helps clients manage freelancers applying for jobs, believes post-recession economic conditions are bolstering the freelance economy's growth. Company President Doug Leeby, who just signed onto a merger with OnForce to expand services for freelance hires, says he thinks the market will grow “precipitously.” He said in years past, some companies were hesitant to hire freelancers due to many government regulations. Now some companies are moving toward hiring freelancers to avoid having to provide costly health care benefits under the federal Affordable Care Act.
