Q&A With Logicalis' Mike Alley: ITSM Is Not Just For IT Anymore

How can service providers such as Logicalis make the case to clients that ITSM is the right way to go when it comes to digital transformation?

With service management, if you get the smart data into your environment … it's intrinsic knowledge in the IT organization that they make decisions on every day, but they're making them manually, their person who knows that and makes that decision – you get all that built into a service management environment, then you not only become very efficient effectively, you have a basis now for automation. The reason a lot of companies can't get to that automation phase, particularly around their infrastructure, is because they don’t have all of that built in. They still have to have somebody punch it, look at it, and ultimately, if you can get to the automation and everything, then you can get to a point where all the blocking and tackling is done for you, and your resources now can focus on a digital transformation.

We are convinced -- it's what we're telling our customers -- that without a really strong service management implementation, they'll never get to being able to have the full digital transformation. And then there's the whole compliance and governance associated with that.
