Extended 5 GHz Support

The new certification encourages device support for more available channels in 5 GHz. Supporting additional channels reduces interference and congestion by minimizing the number of networks operating on overlapping channels. The 5 GHz currently has 23 available channels for devices to use, compared with three channels on 2.4 GHz.

This should help solution providers sell more as the industry trend shifts  toward higher capacity 5 GHz. That will provide faster data rates at shorter distances, offering solution providers the opportunity to sell more for Wave 2 access points.
