Comm Solutions was selected as one of Philly.com's Top Workplaces in Philadelphia for 2014, which is determined based solely on employee feedback.

People enjoy their job and feel respected because regardless of title, their voices are heard no matter what, said Buckalew.

Employees are encouraged to speak freely about their ideas on how to improve and solve problems at Comm Solutions. Those ideas are sent directly to CEO Paul Black.

"Many times we have engineers, not just the sales staff, come to us and say, 'We have customers that need a solution like this,'" said Buckalew. "And there's been many occasions where we've actually taken on a product or technology or practice as a result of someone saying to us, 'There is a better way to do this' or ' There is a need that isn't being filled.'"

Buckalew said a good number of ideas created by employees have been implemented over the years.

"We operate from the notation that all of us are smarter than any of us," said Buckalew. "If anybody has an idea for a new product that we should represent or even a better idea on how to get business done, it goes directly to our CEO."
Comm Solutions placed #313 in CRN's 2014 Solution Provider 500, improving the company's standing 13 spots from 2013.

Another aspect that makes the company unique is how they physically go out to find eager and fresh new hires by scouring colleges.

"We've been very successful at recruiting at colleges during career fairs," said Buckalew.

Comm Solutions prides itself on being a true solution provider and problem solver by simply listening to everyone's concerns – whether it be from employees or customers. Buckalew said the project driven company looks to solve problems instead of just selling products.

Several customers have been with the company for 20 years.

"We find out what's causing them pain and try to make that pain go away," said Buckalew.

"Everybody cares about each other here," said Buckalew. "Comm Solutions is an environment where everybody has a hand on an oar and pulling it very hard."
