As businesses become more "data driven," making critical decisions based on analytical processes will become more common. But Shapiro says some managers may have trouble letting go of their tried-but-not-always-true decision making ways.

The Solution: Shapiro says managers have to listen to what the data is saying and use it as intelligently as possible. That doesn't mean abandoning instincts or intuition. But managers must use all the information available to inform their gut decisions.
