Digital Transformation Projects May Be Undermining Security

More than three-quarters of network devices – 76 percent – have at least one known security vulnerability, the survey found. That's the highest percentage in five years, and a huge jump from 60 percent last year.

Larry Van Deusen, director of Dimension Data's Wired and Wireless Networking Business Unit, tied that increase to digital transformation projects.

Just because a network contains older equipment doesn't necessarily mean it's obsolete, he told IT Best Of Breed. "But because of the maturity of those assets, the vendors were obviously patching them and securing them. … As the equipment aged, it actually got more secure."
