Potential price ScanSource will pay to buy payment devices distributor POS Portal. ScanSource, also a distributor, has agreed to a cash payout of $144.9 million at the time of the deal's closing, as well as an earn-out payment of $13.2 million based on POS Portal's net earnings for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30. With the acquisition, ScanSource, based in Greenville, S.C., plans to create the industry's largest payments channel serving everything from SMBs to enterprises. POS specializes in point-of-sale services for SMB merchants through strong relationships with payment processors, independent sales organizations and tablet-based software developers.
