CIO Survey Identifies Top Five Security Spending Priorities

5. Security Information Event Management

Security information event management market includes industry behemoths HP-Arcsight and IBM-QRadar, which each have customers that have made significant, long-term investments in the company’s enterprise-grade SIEM platforms. Those firms typically have the most mature security operations centers with teams that can handle the heavily customizable appliances. SIEM came in the fifth slot overall in the Piper Jaffray survey with 56 percent of CIOs indicating it is a priority area for spending.  Boulder, Colo.-based LogRhythm remains the sole pure play vendor and Dell and Intel Security each have strong, competing products in the midmarket according to Gartner and Forrester Research. Meanwhile, analysts say Splunk is the disrupter in the space and the company is growing its ecosystem of add-on security applications. Alert Logic, a SaaS-based SIEM and intrusion detection vendor, is also gaining momentum among managed services providers and organizations in the midmarket, which favor Alert Logic’s subscription model.
