Solution Provider: 7 Lessons From Our Work On Ted Cruz's Presidential Campaign

5. Open Up The Online Fundraising Tools To Ordinary People

CFB Strategies was originally tasked with building the bundling application for Cruz's campaign, which Anderson said was a custom portal to manage the money collected from high-end donors.

But once that technology was in place, CFB Strategies decided to leverage it to create a small dollar, crowdsourced fundraising network open to everyone.

CruzCrowd, the campaign's crowdsourced fundraising arm, allowed ordinary people to create their own networks of small-dollar donors, Anderson said, and rewarded them will badges and awards as they hit certain targets. During the campaign, CruzCrowd raised $318,000, according to his campaign, with an average donation size of $20.80.

Many other crowdsourcing platforms don't offer a good user experience, Anderson said, so CFB Strategies focused on keeping the platform simple and lighthearted for the end user.
