The public sector is an important space for channel partners, as federal, state and local governments look to utilize technology and services to improve security and optimize their IT infrastructures.

Global spending on technology by government on IT products and services will grow slightly, by 0.3 percent, in 2016, according to a Gartner forecast. This comes as President Obama seeks more than $3 billion for the federal government to refresh its infrastructure for the 2017 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.

Rick Howard, research vice president at Gartner, says governments need to make strategic investments in IT, or they will increase risk and cost while compromising “the mission of their organizations.”
