Projected 2017 Spending: $1.38 trillion

Projected 2018 Spending: $1.4 trillion (up 1.6 percent)

While the projected increase here is small, communications still represents the largest chunk of IT spending, at about 40 percent of the $3.5 trillion projected for this year.
