This year saw several notable data breaches – even if you don't count U.S. allegations of Russian government-supported hacking to influence the presidential election. The Internal Revenue Service was hit with a data breach during tax season that exposed information on more than 700,000 individuals. And in March, a cancer care provider in Florida announced that a data breach exposed information on 2.2 million cancer patients nationwide.
