He recommended a multi-level approach, which starts with user education around ransomware and protection against phishing attacks. Then, Cobb recommended keeping systems up to date with patching to limit vulnerabilities the ransomware can exploit, as well as implementing endpoint and server malware protection. Finally, he said it’s key to make sure strong backup and recovery systems are in place, both in the cloud and locally, as well as a response plan to implement those technologies in the event of an incident.
