Cisco says 92 percent of today's roughly 64 million machines are not connected to a network, which is providing a great revenue opportunity for channel partners to help customers build more productive, efficient and smarter machines.

To give partners the needed firepower, Cisco launched its new IE4000 switch (pictured) with connected streaming analytics and its IOx technology, which enables hosting of applications and services in network edge devices. The platform has pluggable micro-services and can integrate with IoT sensors and cloud applications securely, while processing data closer to the machine, according to Cisco.
