How big of a revenue boost is this for your company with the end of support date just passing us?

We see it as just starting….We've seen increased interest closer to the end of support date, and now we are seeing more interest after it happened. More people are doing this now than before end of support. It's been kind of a wakeup call. When the XP end of support happened last year, most organizations had already moved away from XP, but for servers it's not the same. We think the way the market is, we think the opportunity is in the millions at least. Like I said, it's a huge opportunity. There are millions of servers out there that need to be migrated.

How can MSPs generate revenue on Server 2003?

The server migration is something that's happening today and I think for the next year. Right now, every MSP out there has customers that run 2003 servers, and the immediate thing that they should do is talk to their customers and explain to them what's happening. Some of them might not know they're exposed. Explain to them that they have a way out. It's not that they would have to shut down their business for a week, because if you use the proper tools, you can do this in one day, maybe even on a weekend, and you can keep the business running, and still be compliant and not be exposed to any security issues…Reach out to their customers, map out their servers, and anything that's Server 2003 should be migrated immediately. I always recommend updating 2008 Servers as well to future-proof the business for several years to come.

What is the opportunity surrounding Windows 10?

Windows 10 is very interesting. Anyone who has Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, they have a completely smooth upgrade path on their existing computers. Anyone who has Windows 7 or 8 now will get Windows 10 through Windows updates, and they don’t need to migrate, it will just update itself. So that's good for them. Anyone who is running XP or Vista still cannot upgrade to Windows 10. They would need a product like ours. It's not much. It's about 20 percent [of users]. We actually expect most of them to get new hardware and not actually upgrade a very old XP computer to Windows 10. We don't foresee a lot of migration being in place right on the same computer. What's going to be interesting as we go into the fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas and all of that, that's where most laptop purchases are getting done. That's going to be a huge opportunity for partners to get people where they are now to Windows 10 computers. Microsoft has provided zero way to do this. Microsoft hasn't provided a way to transfer your files to your Windows 10 machine.

What kind of financial uptick will you see because of Windows 10?

There will be a huge rush to PC refresh, because people are holding onto their machines right now and not buying new ones, we expect this to be a significant uptick in the migration business for our partners and of course for us.
On workstations, we charge very little per work station, so we actually can't get an exact estimate on how much this will be for us. It's difficult to say.

How can MSPs make money on Windows 10?

Right now we don’t foresee too much opportunity right now because if you're upgrading your existing computers to Windows 10, assuming you run Windows 7 or 8, you're ok. If you have an XP or Vista computer, don't upgrade it to Windows 10. Wait a bit and get a new Windows 10 computer. Right now MSPs should deal with server migration. After they are done with that, it will be the time where stores have computers with Windows 10 pre-installed. That's when the refresh cycle starts. MSPs that actually sell machines, obviously, this would be the time to sell them to their customers. MSPs who just sell services should help them migrate. You want your employee not to feel that transition. There is a way to do that automatically with our product.
