Want To Keep Good Employees? Get Company Culture Right

All the upheaval in the IT industry has solution providers making dramatic moves. They're changing business models, rebranding, realigning themselves to serve new markets and sell new technologies to new customers.

It's not easy. The pace of change can be tough for companies and their employees to take. Experienced CEOs who have talked with IT Best of Breed say it's critically important to get the company culture right.

Jessica Stillman has an interesting blog on Inc.com distilling all the professional pitfalls chief executives risk dropping into if they can't, or won't, take the time to consider company culture. The price, she writes, is alienating and losing good employees.

Put enough pressure on your team members, Stillman writes, and they may be disinclined to help colleagues and lose sight of the firm's overarching mission.

Be explicit about company culture. Don't be above creating an internal company culture manifesto, Stillman writes. "Because if you don't know what your company values, the members of your team certainly won't."
