VARs Feel The Power Of Positive Reinforcement

Getting a small pat on the back can go a long way.

In any workplace, employees who have set goals for themselves or were given goals by management, appreciate being recognized and rewarded for reaching those goals.

Practicing positive reinforcement in an office is important as it can lead to more productive behavior out of employees going forward.

When employees are encouraged by management, they are given a sense of self-worth, letting them know they are appreciated for their hard work. In a case where an employee has been instructed to improve on certain aspects of the job, positive reinforcement lets them know they are improving and headed in the right direction.

This can create a domino effect of employees striving to continue to improve at their jobs as they want to receive more praise. Additionally, it creates a positive work atmosphere where people enjoy their jobs. It increases productivity of employees within their own positions while increasing the likelihood of lending a hand to colleagues.

"It's huge," said Chip Emery, owner and CEO of Supply Chain Services based in Minneapolis.
