An admitted computer geek and frustrated artist, it was only natural for Tom Clancy to form a creative technology support company. That was 12 years ago. Now, Valiant Technology has evolved into an extremely successful MSP focusing on providing technology and IT support to the creative industries in New York City.

"Our customers are more casual, more adventurous, more daring, more trusting...and it works," Clancy said. "These are people that I speak their language," he continued.

The creative industry, in particular, has a hunger for cutting edge technology, Clancy said. The reason is that many of his clients' jobs rely heavily on technology programs such as the Adobe Suite and Vector Works.

"Technology is the air and water, for sure, to them," Clancy said.

With that demand for technology comes its own "unique challenges," Clancy said, most of which center around storage. He said creative fields, in particular, demand significantly more storage than end-users in other verticals. For example, Clancy said an entire law office might consult 10 terabytes of storage, while he has creative clients who demand the same amount for a single employee.

To help meet that demand, Clancy said many creatives "very much" want to adopt cloud solutions. They see it as a cutting edge technology and they usually don't have the same security concerns a financial or healthcare business might have. However, he said the speed of the cloud poses a problem to many of the clients he works with.
