How To Ease Network Strain During The Holidays

Organizations of all sizes face a massive influx of data every year during the holiday season due to online shopping, as well as businesses that rush to close their books for the year.

More than 108 million people did their Black Friday shopping online this year, up 21 percent from 2014, according to a recent report by the National Retail Federation. Such an increase in traffic places a tremendous strain on networks that slows down data speeds or even causes a network failure, says Christina Richards (pictured), vice president of marketing at wireless communications specialist AOptix.

Richards told IT Best of Breed about how businesses should fix their biggest networking issues during the high-traffic holiday season and how emerging technologies such as software-defined networking and the Internet of Things will impact the future.
