Microsoft acquired an IoT solution provider; Intel closed a number of its chip products to turn more of its focus toward IoT, and Japanese manufacturing giant Hitachi launched a new IoT business unit in Silicon Valley, as well as a new core IoT platform.

Additionally, a new IoT security report highlighted immense dangers lingering over the emerging market, such as network connectivity flaws that could invite hackers.
