3 Things Partners Should Know About Dell's HPC Systems For Mid-Market

The Vision

Dell envisions a big market for high-performance computing (HPC) among mainstream mid-market customers, and is pushing to meet that demand with a new portfolio of systems that will be available through channel partners and aimed at the life sciences, manufacturing and research verticals.

This week, Dell introduced its family of pre-configured HPC and data analytics solutions based on its PowerEdge C6320p server. The systems, which will begin shipping in the second half of the year, include Intel Xeon Phi (Knights Landing) processors, support for Intel's Omni Path architecture fabric, as well as Dell Lustre and NFS storage solutions.

While HPC is typically associated with huge workloads, Dell is promising that the new portfolio for mainstream uses will be easy to stand up, support and service. Here are three things solution providers should know about the new series.
