US military unaware of Chinese attacks against transport contractors

The U.S. Defense Department plans to tighten reporting of cyber incidents against transportation contractors after the military found it was mostly left in the dark about successful attacks from China, according to a Senate report.The Senate Armed Service Committee released on Wednesday an unclassified version of a report commissioned last year to investigate cyberattacks against contractors for the U.S.

Our lives are surprisingly packed with morally loaded experiences. We see others behaving badly (or well), and we behave well (or badly) ourselves. In a new study, researchers used a smartphone app to track moral and immoral acts committed or witnessed by more than 1,200 people as they went about their days. It's one of the first attempts to quantify the moral landscape of daily life, and it contains some interesting hints about how people are influenced by the behavior or others, as well as by their own political and religious leanings.

Snapchat settles ownership dispute, says app idea came from ousted partner

Snapchat cofounders Evan Spiegel and Robert Murphy have reached a settlement with former Stanford University colleague Frank Reginald “Reggie” Brown over an ownership dispute, admitting that Brown had originally come up with the idea for the app for sending disappearing picture messages.The settlement resolves a dispute over Brown’s claim of an ownership interest in Snapchat on mutually agreeable terms, and resolves Brown’s suit filed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, as well as all other disputes between the parties, according to a statement by Snapchat.
