Where do you see VARs/solution providers making money through 802.11ac in education?

Education customers continue to expand their use of wireless, requiring greater Wi-Fi capacity to handle ever-growing densities of devices and deploying ubiquitous service in all areas of the campus. VARs and Solution Providers can leverage this growing need by positioning the performance advantage of 802.11ac as an upgrade to existing infrastructure that can help address growing demands. In addition, managed service providers can provide packaged Wi-Fi service offerings that deliver infrastructure-as-a-service to customers who do not want a full up front CAPEX investment.

Why the focus on the hospitality, education and healthcare fields?

The product is a natural fit for hospitality-related deployments, e.g. hotel rooms, university dormitories, assisted living facilities, and hospital patient rooms where wireless/wired access is required for a single room or single living quarters. Most of these locations have existing in-wall Cat 5E/Cat 6 infrastructure that can be readily leveraged by the new Xirrus AP.

What do you feel is the best commercial tablet that utilizes 802.11ac? Why?

Xirrus tests a wide variety of tablets in our QA labs, including both iOS and Android models. 802.11ac is starting to make its way into tablets. While we do not endorse a particular brand, we ensure our solutions work well with a wide variety of options available on the market.
