POLL: Will H-1B Changes Impact Your Company?

President Donald Trump this week signed an executive order that will make changes to the H-1B visa program, which has been widely used by the information technology industry for years.

According to the Trump administration, the current random lottery H-1B system has violated the principles of the visa program by allowing employers to bring in lower-skilled workers at well below market rates to replace American workers. The executive order will shift the H-1B program away from a lottery system weighted toward lowest-wage workers to a system that prioritizes higher-skilled, higher-paid workers. That shift would make it much more difficult for outsourcing giants to replace American workers, according to the Trump administration.

But solution providers told CRN that the changes ultimately could result in more tech jobs being moved overseas.
